A Romance with Nature
Situated in the serene landscape of Cornwall Gardens, Singapore, this private residence embraces the beauty of its natural surroundings. Set on a gently sloping site, the design harmonizes with the topography through three distinct platforms that overlook a lush, verdant garden. The architecture blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, incorporating expansive openings to encourage natural cross ventilation and fill the interiors with abundant daylight.
Built on the concept of living in harmony with nature, the house features full-height glass windows facing the garden, offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery. The interior design is marked by repeated frames and boxes that echo the architectural form, while a soft, muted palette of cream tones enhances the solidity of concrete and stone. Long, low horizontal furniture pieces subtly draw attention to the garden views, and touches of matte black create depth within the space.
The existing outhouse was thoughtfully remodeled, with the rooftop transformed into an extension of the garden, further connecting the home to its natural environment and providing a peaceful retreat.
